“When a service man or woman puts his or her hand up and says ‘I need help,” they need it right then. Not in six months, not in eight months,” said John F. Kilpatrick, Founder of Veterans Recovery Resources at the Rotary Club of Mobile. “That is why we are losing so many veterans.”

john-austin-and-jerry-2John shared his story about why he has started Veterans Recovery Resources and explained in more detail about the dire need facing our military veterans across the country, but particularly in the Gulf Coast. “There are a lot of statistics out there about the number of veteran suicides taking place, and some of them have been debated. But I’m here to tell you that from what I have experienced first-hand during my tour at the Pentagon and what I see right here in Mobile–I think the numbers could be a lot higher.”

The Rotary Club of Mobile is one of the oldest and largest Rotary Clubs in the world, founded in 1914, only 9 years after Rotary was born. The club has almost 300 members today.

“It was an honor to be invited to the Rotary Club of Mobile,” John summarized. “We need the help of this distinguished group of community leaders.”
